Amy Action on Page 3
1996 Amy made page 3 of The Sydney Morning Herald (Sydney's largest paper) in a story with the "Indian Queen" Kumari. The story was on the top two Women wrestlers in Australia and discussed things from the their love and respect for the sport to the stereo typing of wrestling being considered "a man's sport" in Australia.
The Today Show
"The Today Show" on channel 9 picked up the page 3 story and investigated this concept further doing a report on the two top women wrestlers in Australia. The two women went on to be interviewed for The Today Show (Channel 9) and spent the next year and a half battling each other in various Sydney based promotions. Their matches against each other were of a technical mat wrestling style that saw lots of reversals and holds. Amy also worked during this time as a manager for a number of male wrestlers on the Sydney scene.

In 1997 Vanity entered the Sydney scene just as Kumari retired from the ring, Amy and Vanity worked regularly against each other during 1997 and 1998. Vanity was more of a gymnast and power wrestler than Kumari, Amy developed a harder heel edge to her style to counter balance Vanity's attack. Signature moves of Amy's during this time period included the spin heel kick, flying elbow smash and a Japanese style missile drop kick. It was during this time period that Amy also started to wrestle in Sydney for the AWA in their Men's Light Heavyweight division, as a masked wrestler called Kombat Karl which Amy continued wrestling under until mid 1999.

Miss Wrestler Australia
In 1998 Amy was featured in a story for the New Weekly Magazine about alternative Miss Australia's as "Miss Wrestler Australia". As AWA Queen of the ring the article focused on showing Amy along with other four other true blue Aussie girls who excelled in their unconventional chosen field and became the top alternate "Queens" of Australia.
Melbourne
In 1999 and 2000 Amy started traveling regularly to Melbourne, wrestling there as well as Sydney. Amy's first match in Melbourne was in front of 1100 people at the Metro Night club against Raya Riot. Amy was presented as a babyface who was cheated out of the win by referee Sherri Sinatra, who refused to count to three when Amy had Raya beaten. This was one of the few times when Amy worked the audience as a babyface.
When Amy returned to Melbourne Amy joined Melbourne based wrestling group The Cult. In her Melbourne debut Amy firstly helped Ricky Diamond win his match against top Melbourne babyface Psycho Kid Thunder by throwing powder in his face after he'd already fought a barrage of attacks from various Cult members. The Cult were then able to hand Psycho a beating, the result saw Amy having to be escorted from the ring by security, due to the heat that it caused. In her first match in many against Sherri Sinatra later that night, Psycho rushed to the ring to seek his revenge on Amy with a "stunner", after Ricky Diamond put out Sherri with a "diamond cutter". Highlights of the show were used in a documentary called "Starstruck."

Amy and Diamond went on to feud with Chucky and Sherri in a classic mixed tag match. Amy also began feuding with old nemesis Tash (aka Angel Rose) who worked in Melbourne. Amy attacked Tash during an award ceremony where Amy was awarded "Wrestler of the Year" by the gowned Tash. Amy high choked Tash off the ground then threw her across the ring to the shock of the audience, who didn't know the two's background. Tash came back a few months later to challenge Amy. Sherri came to Tash's rescue after the match when Tash submitted to an Indian death lock which Amy refused to release.
