Beverly meets Larry Owens initially under suspicious circumstances and she doesn't know if he is a good guy or a bad guy.

Larry is a aviator with his own airplane who works for the Secret Service early in the series.

Throughout the series Larry has knack of turning up just when he is needed. Beverly and Larry become romantically involved but not before Beverly initially rejects his marriage proposal an explanation of wanting to become a "Career Woman."

Larry’s family live in Maine and his younger brother David Owens, is a secret service agent who comes to Beverly’s assistance in one of her adventures.

Larry and Beverly become engaged but break off their engagement after Larry has trouble with Beverly becoming wealthy in "Beverly Gray's Fortune.". The pair reconcile but are not married at the series end.

Jim is a friend of Beverly’s from her high school days. Jim's feeling for Beverly grow during her college years as he become a rival of Larry's for Beverly's affections. A young engineer, Jim leaves for South America to take an engineering job as Beverly and Larry’s relationship starts to heat up. The story sees Beverly meeting Jim in South America and Jim in turn appears in other adventures as in "Beverly Gray's Assignment" where Jim is in New Orleans on business and assists Beverly and Lenora. Jim later becomes romantically involved and makes plans to marry Beverly's friend Lois Mason.
