Kaori was billed in FMW as their future star to take over the reigns from Megumi Kudo. When Kudo retired in 1997 she handed Kaori Nakayama the title belts and asked Nakayama to carry the women's division on for her.
Nakayama's father was a local wrestling promoter in Osaka and her mother Miyoko Hoshino was a two time All Japan Women's Champion.
Debuting in 1994
Kaori spent her first year of wrestling as a heel in Shark
Tsuchiya's group, she then switched to be Megumi Kudo's tag partner and side
kick. Although built to take over the reigns of the women's division from
Kudo on her retirement Kaori who was short (less than 5 feet high) and light in statue was not a
believable star to beat the much bigger promotions major heel Shark
Tsuchiya.
Kaori suffered an injury in 1998 that saw her out of wrestling for the majority of the year, the timing so soon after Kudo's retirement spelt doom for the women's division in FMW. When Kaori returned to FMW on November 20, 1998 in a 3 team tag she was pinned by Team No Respect's manager in the match. In March 1999 FMW came to an agreement GAEA and teamed Kaori with GAEA star Sugar Sato. On April 4th 1999, Kaori wrestled on GAEA's 4th Anniversary show being used in an elimination match she lost in 6 minutes to Sakura Hirota. GAEA and FMW's relationship were to last only 2 months more before FMW decided to end the relationship with GAEA and instead sign Emi Motokawa to be used as Kaori's opponent for shows.
In June 2000 Kaori was put into a team with Jado & Gedo (male wrestlers) which resulted in Kaori winning her only title, the WEW 6 Man Tag Team Championship Titles. Kaori pinned Fuyuki for the title on September 17, 2000 defeating the team of Kodo Fuyuki, Mr. Gannosuke, and Shinjuku Shark.
In 2002 Kaori joined Hayabusa's new promotion "Wrestling Marvelous Future" (WMF) on the understanding that she intended retiring at the end of the year. Along with fellow FMW wrestler Miss Mongel, Kaori wrestled on the WMF debut show on the 28th August 2002.
Kaori retired on the 23rd October 2002. Her final match was against Shark Tsuchiya who had wrestled her both as her long time partner and rival. The pair had a bloody match before Nakayama lost.
