Akira Hokuto

Highlights: Also known as "Hisako Uno" (her real name), "Reina Jabuki" (her masked character she used on occasion) "The Dangerous Queen" or "The Mummy" (both nicknames) there is no doubting that Akira Hokuto is truly one of the all time greats. Akira Hokuto had an amazing presence in the ring which was undeniable. From the moment she stepped out to the ring all eyes were often on Akira and she played this up well by dressing up in costume at times for her ring entrance. In WCW Akira Hokuto came to the wrestling ring for the her tag team match with partner Bull Nakano at the WCW- World War 3 pay per view on November 23, 1995 against Mayumi Ozaki & Cutie Suzuki dressed in a huge white wig with a long kimono and wearing a demon mask on her face. When Akira removes the attire fans then see the beautiful Akira in one of her many amazingly decorative bright and attractive wrestling costumes. Akira started her career in the "Crush girl" era. During the mid 1980's Japanese women's wrestling was at its peak and the crush girls (Chigusa Nagayo and Lioness Aska) were sport and rock idols. This was easily the toughest time for any woman in Japan to break into wrestling as the auditions were crowded with girls wanting to follow in the footsteps of their idols and become wrestlers. Akira was a great athlete and was able to stand out at auditions to be accepted in what would have to be the most elite group of wrestlers ever to come out of Japan from any time period.

Akira Hokuto

Akira made her wrestling debut under her real name Hisako Uno on May 28th, 1985 against Kumiko Iwamotoon for the All Japan Women's Pro Wrestling promotion, at the time it was the number one women's wrestling promotion in the world. Akira Hokuto won her first title the All Japan Juniors belt under her real name Hisako Uno when she defeated Condor Saito on March 20th, 1986 with a little under a year in the pro ranks under her belt. Akira Hokuto held onto the title until May 29th, 1986 when she lost it to Yasuko Ishiguro

Akira Hokuto

Early on in her career Akira became a favourite with audiences however it wasn't until later in her later career that she really started to show the amazing confidence and charisma she had in the ring. Akira would at times appear to be playing with the audience during her matches both to their amusement and delight. A part of her charm and indeed her confidence probably came from her ability to overcome what at times seemed the impossible. Early in her career Akira Hokuto suffered what many believed would be a career ending broken neck from a piledriver off the second rope gone wrong. In the actual match in which it happened Akira Hokuto refused to let it get in her way and finished the match whilst clutching at her head at various times. After time off to recover Akira Hokuto came back to the ring only to suffer further injury throughout her career including another neck injury and a bad knee injury.

 Akira Hokuto

In tag team action Akira Hokuto formed strong aliances. With Yumiko Hotta Akira was able  to win the WWWA World Tag on April 15th, 1987 against Leilani Kai and Judy Martin. Akira Hokuto then teamed with Suzuka Minami to form  the very successful "Marine Wolves". Together Akira Hokuto and Suzuka Minami were able to take out the WWWA World Tag titles on June 18th, 1989 defeating Grizzly Iwamoto and Bison Kimura, and again on February 7th, 1990 by defeating Aja Kong and Grizzly Iwamoto.

Akira Hokuto

Akira Hokuto's partnership with Suzuka Minami also led to further title defences as the pair became involved in a series of single title matches. On April 29th, 1991 Akira defeated her former tag team partner Suzuka Minami to take out the All Pacific Singles title. As with any good feud Suzuka Minami was able to seek her revenge however when she took the title from Akira Hokuto on October 4th, 1991. In her own country of Japan Akira Hokuto was to become a major drawcard. On the 20th of November, 1994 Akira Hokuto main evented at The Tokyo Egg Dome show after making her way through the V* Top Women's tournament that featured women from different promotions in Japan. 42,500 fans witnessed Akira Hokuto down monster heel Aja Kong in the final to become the V*Top Woman Tournament winner.

Akira Hokuto

Japan was not the only country in which Akira Hokuto was able to make her presence felt however and in 1992 whilst in Mexico Akira Hokuto formed the "Las Cachoras Orientales" with Etsuko Mita which on their return to Japan was joined by Mima Shimoda. The three women combined were an awesome combination and a favourite amongst Japanese wrestling fans. Akira returned to Mexico again in 1994 and on July 30th in Mexico City a masked Akira Hokuto performing under the name of "Reina Jubuki" managed to beat Mexican luchadora "La Diabolica" for the CMLL Singles title. Akira Hokuto retained the CMLL title until she was stripped of it for working for WCW in America.

Akira Hokuto

In America Akira Hokuto was also a sensation as she became the first WCW World Women's title holder. Akira's wrestling for WCW came about as a result of a contract between WCW and the GAEA promotion in Japan that Akira was working for from 1996 onwards. Akira Hokuto defeated Madusa in the finals of an 8 women tournament. Akira won the title at the Starrcade payperview  on December 29th, 1996. Akira appeared a few more times for WCW in America and on June 14, 1997 Akira Hokuto beat America's long time favorite girl wrestler Madusa in a "if Madusa loses, she will retire" match. In on match Akira Hokuto retained her title and retired the ever popular Madusa. Akira Hokuto left wrestling in 1997/8 to give birth to a baby boy on November 6, 1998. Akira after a year absence from the ring returned to wrestling as a freelancer and worked for GAEA again. On the 17th of december, 2000 Akira Hokuto and Mayumi Ozaki teamed up to take out the AAAW Tag Title. In 2002 Akira Hokuto "The Dangerous Queen" retired from professional wrestling. Since then Akira has made some appearances in the ring for the men's wresting promotion "Dragon Gate."

megumi kudo

HEIGHT: 162CM  WEIGHT: 60KG
Megumi Kudo originally was an AJW rookie but only lasted a few years (1987-1989) before retiring from the company. Megumi Kudo returned to the ring in 1991 when she joined FMW, as they were a promotion looking to combine both Men and Women's wrestling on their roster.

Megumi Kudo was the main star of FMW's Women's division throughout her career there.  In fact when Megumi retired FMW didn't seem to be able to recover from the loss as no other women who were primed to take her place came anywhere near matching her popularity.
Megumi was known also for hardcore matches including Japanese style death matches with exploding barb wire and weapons. Favorite heel opponents from FMW included the face painted wrestler called "The Shark".

Some wrestles don't consider it to be wrestling, whist other wrestlers like pushing themselves to new boundaries and to shock viewers with their version of reality with a barb wire match. In men's wrestling the leader of this style was Mick Foley, for women it was Megumi Kudo.

Kudo wrestled for FMW who were a Japanese promotion that used both men and women and were known for their hardcore matches using barb wire, sickles and other foreign objects.

takako inoue

Height: 164CM Weight: 66KG
DOB: 11th of July, 1969
Debut: 1988 against Kyoko Inoue for AJW
Career Span: Takako Inoue started n 1988 and wrestled for AJW until 1999 when she became a freelance wrestler. Takao in 2004 was talking possible retirement when she got an audition for the WWE. Takako has been picked up by the WWE and the 15 year veteran is currently undergoing training to adapt to the "American style" (Japanese women's wrestling is a lot more intense, harder hitting, sport orientated style.)

Takako Inoue (no relation to Kyoko Inoue who she often did tag matches with) has been one of the most popular Japanese women to bring out her own books. The "Idol" books as they have become known are photography orientated books popular in Japan for their sexy pics of favourite popular "idols". Unlike the American wrestling scene however this representation is not then translated to wrestling shows as Takako is respected for her outstanding athleticism and knowledge of moves, countermoves and wrestling matwork in the ring and is not put into T&A storylines in Japan based on her looks.

In recent years Takakao signed with the WWE and headed to Minnesota to train under Brad Rheingans to familiarize herself with the American style of pro-wrestling.  It was reported through Nikkan Sports that Takako had a ten minute tryout with Jazz before the show under the watchful eye of the WWE's John Laurinitis & Fit Finlay among others. It was reported that in January they approached Itzuki Yamazaki of the 1980's WWF Womens Tag Team champs Jumping Bomb Angels for a recommendation of a Japanese woman wrestler they could use.  Itzuki Yamazaki lives in New York and owns the sushi restaurant GO. Itzuki suggested that the WWE look at Takako. Nikkan Sport went on to report that Takako was very happy with the workout and said that she wants to be more than a sexy WWE Diva. If they want her only for her sex appeal she wouldn't be interested as she was a professional wrestler first and foremost. Things didn't eventuate in a deal and Takako headed back to LLPW in Japan.

Recently Takako has come out to speak about bullying in AJW saying that as a junior one of the women wrestlers who didn't like her would bully her all the time and make her unhappy as a result when Takako sees any bullying on the rookies today she steps in to defend them.

Titles: All Japan Singles. Takako won her first title beating  Kyoko Inoue on April 29th, 1991.  She held the title for one year before loosing it to Mariko Yoshida.
All Japan Tag Takako has been a very successful tag team wrestler having won the world title twice teaming with Mariko Yoshida, in 1991 and 1992.
UWA Tag Takako & Yumiko Hotta won the titles in 1993.
WWWA World Tag Takako was mostly known for her tag team partnership with Kyoko Inoue (no relation) in 1994, 1995 and 1996.
IWA Singles Takako defeated Reggie Bennett 1995.
All Pacific Singles Takako won the title twice in 1997.
LLPW 6 Woman Title Black Joker (Takako, Eagle Sawai and Rumi Kazama) w
on the vacant titles on September 2nd, 2000.
